My
Personal Experiences with Facial Feminization Surgery
Usually,
people have FFS done all in one surgery. I had mine done in several,
although I only intended to have two.
I
was a rather difficult because I had a rather asymmetrical face and
head since birth, and that skin likes to stick to bone after bone had
been shaved or cut (I wonder if I am unique in this).
All
in all, I have had the following:
Round
One (October, 2001) Dr. Suporn, Thailand:
I
originally was wanting very little FFS done during my first trip to
Suporn, since I was also having SRS, which was the real reason for
the trip. By the time that I arrived, I had booked
chin and jaw reduction
tracheal shave
rhinoplasty
Round
Two (2002) Dr. Suporn, Thailand:
The
few procedures that I had done yielded minimal improvement. I booked
a second session for procedures originally suggested by Dr. Suporn
and Aoi, consisting of:
scalp reduction
(pulling the hairline forward)
forehead
reduction (shaving the brow bones)
upper eyelid blepharoplasty
eyebrows raised
chin tuck
(local, mini-facelift)
Round
Three (2003) Dr. Suporn, Thailand:
The
scalp reduction/forehead reduction was quite a success. Yet, the
chin tuck was not as effective as a full face-lift, so I booked
another round of FFS with Suporn. I took his suggestions, which also
included a revision of my eyebrows. I also asked that he cut more
bone at the corners of my chin in order to reduce the squareness of
the skull. The procedures done in the third session were:
rhytidectomy
upper
lip
reduction
lower
lip
dermalive
injections
eyebrow
lift
and forehead reduction revision
jaw/chin
bone
reduction
revision
Below
are the post-op photos, taken several months later, with comparisons
to the originals:

The
issue with my chin and jaw has been changed. Contrasting the two
pictures, it is eveident that the forehead, eyes, nose, mouth chin,
and neck profiles have become noticeably less masculine. Overall
look: much improved; more feminine than androgynous; bordering on attractive.

Less
rugged than before, but asymmetry is still evident in the eyebrows,
eyes, nose, mouth and chin as was pre-operatively. Some swelling
still seems evident Overall look: androgynous, bordering on feminine.
Not everyone can look like Cindy Crawford, but the idea was to be
accepted as female by sight, and thus I think that we have a success. :-)
Presently
The
main issue that remained was the jawline. The skin stuck to it and
it did eventually look like too much was removed. Likely, no one
could have foreseen that in the beginning--perhaps I am unique. I
have had implants on the jaw implanted by Dr. Ousterhout. That did
help my jaw issue. I was born with an asymmetrical face, and that
remains. I am not sure what one can do about that.
I
should soon have more recent photos (post-Dr. O) posted soon. In
all, it has been quite an adventure. My experience is not typical,
but a more challenging one.
